The EQUATOR Network has recently received numerous endorsements recognising its role in working to improve the reliability and value of medical research literature by promoting transparent and accurate reporting of research studies.

The EQUATOR (Enhancing the Quality and Transparency of Health Research) Network is an international initiative set up to improve the reliability and value of the published research literature by promoting transparent and accurate reporting.

The EQUATOR Network was officially launched in June 2008. Since its launch, the programme has already achieved important milestones:

• Developed a free online Library for health research reporting and a basic set of Toolkits for key user groups supporting application of principles of good research publication and implementation of reporting guidelines (//; 180,000 visits in the last year)
• Built international recognition and reputation as the leading authority and resource portal in the area of health research reporting. Reference to EQUATOR is included in the “Recommendations for the Conduct, Reporting, Editing, and Publication of Scholarly Work in Medical Journals” (formerly Uniform Requirements for Biomedical Manuscripts), the most fundamental guidelines developed by the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) that are followed by most biomedical journals
• In collaboration with the Pan American Health Organisation (PAHO) launched the  Spanish version of the EQUATOR website and signed a three year memorandum on mutual collaboration in promoting responsible research reporting in PAHO regions (http://www.espanol.equator-network.org/)
• Organised national and international workshops, seminars, talks and Annual Lectures on issues relevant to research reporting
• Published a number of research papers and articles promoting good research reporting, published a regular online newsletter and set up a LinkedIn group disseminating information about new reporting guidelines and the latest developments
