The UK needs to strengthen mechanisms for ensuring that all research is conducted ethically

CONSORT extensions for reporting health related quality of life outcomes from trials and for reporting randomised controlled trials of social interventions are currently in development.

Paper published recently in the BMJ investigates the effect of using reporting guidelines during peer review on the quality of final manuscripts submitted to the Medicina Clínica.

The EQUATOR Network Library was updated on 20th October 2011. The total number of available reporting guidelines is now 191.

Several extensions to the CONSORT Statement have been developed specifically addressing the reporting of particular methodological designs.
