Last week, the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) introduced a new disclosure form for potential conflict of interest. The form has been adopted by all journals that are members of the ICMJE.

In the editorial (http://www.icmje.org/format.pdf) published simultaneously by all ICMJE journals, the ICMJE editors encourage other journals to adopt this reporting format. The form, which has been placed in public domain, is now posted on the ICMJE website (http://www.icmje.org/coi_disclosure.pdf) together with an example of a completed form (http://www.icmje.org/sample_disclosure.pdf).

The ICMJE website, which hosts the Uniform Requirements for Manuscripts Submitted to Biomedical Journals: Writing and Editing for Biomedical Publications, has recently been updated (http://www.icmje.org/).
