New reporting guidelines in development

The following guidelines are currently being developed:

Guidelines for the reporting of prognostic (risk prediction) models
A 3 day meeting was convened in June 2011 to begin the process for developing a checklist of the minimal set of items that should be included when reporting multivariable prediction models. The meeting is reported in a BMJ Group blog by steering committe member Gary Collins.

STROBE - conference abstracts
The STORBE Group have recently developed a checklist for conference abstracts. The draft STROBE checklist for abstracts is currently being piloted at the ECCMID conference and is available for download. The group are seeking feedback on the current draft guidance.

REMINDE
The Insitute of Psychiatry at King's College, London are currently developing reporting guidelines for manuals to describe complex interventions, with particular reference to mental health services research. Further information about the REMINDE (REporting Manualised INterventions for Dissemination and Evaluation (REMINDE) Statement is available from their website.

SPIRIT Initiative
The SPIRIT Initiative have now completed a 33-item checklist that sets out the essential items to be addressed when writing a trial protocol. The SPIRIT acronym has been changed to reflect the recently expanded scope of the guideline to cover all trials, not just RCTs. The SPIRIT acronym now stands for 'Standard Protocol Items: Recommendations for Interventional Trials'. The Development Group have produced an updated SPIRIT Executive Summary.
